Feeding the Hungry A Sunnah of Mercy
Feeding the hungry is one of the most beloved acts of worship in Islam. It reflects mercy, compassion, and gratitude for the blessings Allah ﷻ has given us. When we share our food with those in need, we are not just filling empty stomachs, we are reviving a Sunnah of mercy.
The Qur’an reminds us of the virtue of feeding others, especially those who cannot repay us:
“And they give food in spite of love for it to the needy, the orphan, and the captive, [saying], ‘We feed you only for the countenance of Allah. We wish not from you reward or gratitude.’”
(Surah Al-Insan 76:8-9)
Our beloved Prophet Muhammad ﷺ also encouraged feeding others as a means of spreading peace and love in society:
“Spread peace, feed the hungry, and pray at night when people are asleep, and you will enter Paradise in peace.”
(Sunan Ibn Majah)
At Noreen Zindagi Welfare Organization, feeding the hungry is at the heart of our mission. From daily food distribution to special Ramadan and Eid drives, we strive to ensure that no one goes to sleep hungry.
